Non-Insured/Non-Resident Maternity Care at Trillium Health Partners (THP)

Trillium Health Partners (THP) is a publicly funded health-care organization, and our primary responsibility is to provide health care services to residents of Ontario and Canada with recognized health care insurance coverage.

Trillium Health Partners does not routinely provide planned (non-emergent) maternity care to non-residents and is not affiliated with any birth tourism or third-party agencies.

We urge all patients and families to exercise caution and ensure proper due diligence before entering into an agreement with third-party organizations offering birthing services within Trillium Health Partners.

  • Please note: Trillium Health Partners does not accept payment from any third-party organizations.
  • If patients and families have paid a third-party organization for services, Trillium Health Partners will still independently charge and collect fees from patients for uninsured services provided at the hospital.

Fees for non-resident patients without recognized health care insurance coverage (OHIP, Ministry of Health or Federal Coverage)

Effective April 1, 2026, uninsured services for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and newborn care at Trillium Health Partners will start at $25,000. A deposit of $15,000 will be required to register to give birth at Trillium Health Partners. Additionally, physician services for uninsured patients must be paid directly to the physicians providing care.

Costs may be higher, and deposit may be adjusted, depending on:

  • medical complexity
  • multiple births
  • expected admission to critical care for the patient and/or newborn

How acceptance into care and payment work for non-insured/non-residents

  • Each case is reviewed before a patient is accepted into care.
  • If you are over 36 weeks’ gestation and are accepted into care to give birth, you must pay the full fee to the THP Finance Department after your initial visit with the OBGYN.
  • After payment is made, you will be registered as a hospital patient.

If you arrive and need urgent delivery care, payment will be required upon arrival for:

  • hospital costs paid at time of care, and
  • physician fees for providers directly involved in your care (also paid at the time of care)

A hospital finance representative will review hospital fees and provide payment options.
