Fracture Clinic - Mississauga Hospital

Description of Service

The Fracture Clinic is here to help you heal after a broken bone or injury. You don't stay overnight. It's a place where you come for your appointment and then head home. Our clinics at Mississauga Hospital and Credit Valley Hospital care for patients who:

  • Have just visited the Emergency Department
  • Have had surgery and need follow-up care

We're here to support you every step of the way as you recover. Sometimes, you may need special items to help your healing, such as:

  • Braces
  • Splints
  • Walking boots
  • Slings

These items are not covered by OHIP, but some private insurance plans or workplace benefits may pay for part or even all of the cost. To avoid surprises, we encourage you to check with your insurance provider before your appointment. If you're unsure or have questions, our clinic staff will be happy to talk with you and guide you through your options.

Specific Services Offered

Common services provided at both fracture clinics include:

  • assessing and treating broken bones and musculoskeletal injuries
  • cast/brace application and removal
  • removing stitches and providing follow-up care for fractures and joint replacements (hip and knee)

Preparation for Visit

Please plan to spend about two to three hours at the Fracture Clinic. Mississauga Hospital is very large, and the walk between the X-ray area and the clinic can be long. Since we do not have transportation assistance inside the hospital, we kindly suggest bringing a friend or family member to help you get to your appointment and move around comfortably.

Our hospital is very busy, so there may be some waiting and it can take extra time to find parking. Arriving early will make your visit easier. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to caring for you.

Care Team

Our Fracture Clinic teams consists of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Registered Orthopaedic Technologists, Clerical Assistants, and Volunteers.
