Nursing is deeply meaningful work. What draws people to the profession - and keeps them there - is the impact they have on their community. At Trillium Health Partners, that commitment is supported by strengthening mentorship and professional development, and by investing in tools like WeMentor+, a co-created digital mentorship platform designed to help team members advance their careers through connection and guidance. What began with nursing is now expanding to support health care professionals across Team THP.
For Amy Persaud, mentorship has shaped every stage of her journey at Trillium Health Partners.
Amy began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department through the New Graduate Guarantee program. Early on, she sought out mentors who could offer guidance as she navigated new opportunities, expanded her professional network, and pursued further education.
“Mentorship made a huge difference in my own journey,” Amy says. “I learned early on that having trusted leaders who could offer advice and perspective helped me build confidence and explore new possibilities.”
Today, as Director of the Workforce Management Office and Clinical Resource Team, Amy is helping create those same opportunities for others through WeMentor+.
Since its launch, the platform has already grown to more than 672 active users. Early pilot areas have seen turnover decrease by nearly 10 per cent - an early indicator of how mentorship can support retention and long‑term career advancement.
“Mentorship is truly a two-way street,” Amy says. “Because I benefited so much from mentorship early in my career, I’ve always believed in paying it forward.”
This work reflects Trillium Health Partners’ Plan to 2030, which begins with investing in Team THP. By supporting team members to develop and advance, the organization is building a strong, connected workforce - ready to meet the evolving needs of the community.
