Clinic Services

Our team of Otolaryngologists provides comprehensive care for a wide range of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions. We diagnose and manage concerns such as thyroid cancer, hearing loss, nasal congestion and sleep apnea, offering personalized treatment plans to meet each patient's needs. Minor procedures are performed in our clinic, including turbinate reduction, biopsies, and tracheostomy changes, in a comfortable outpatient setting.

Our general surgeons assess patients with a range of issues in the surgical clinic. These include assessments for rectal bleeding and anal pain, skin and soft tissue infections, skin lesions such as cysts, lipomas or cancer, and ingrown toenails. Patients who have recently been in hospital who have surgical wounds, wound infections or drainage tubes are also frequently seen.

The gynecology clinics consist primarily of colposcopy clinics for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical, vaginal, and vulvar diseases. We manage both benign and pre-cancerous lesions and continue to provide post-treatment surveillance for short periods of time. Our physicians and nursing staff also provide education, comfort, and support for those diagnosed with concerns in these areas.

Our plastic surgeons complete consultations and a wide variety of surgeries in clinic. They treat diseases and trauma of the hand including trigger finger, carpal tunnel, Dupuytrens, fractures, and cut tendons. They also treat a variety of skin cancers including basal and squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma and perform reconstructions after breast cancer surgery.

The thoracic and upper gastrointestinal surgery clinic specializes in the diagnosis, evaluation, and surgical management of non-cancerous diseases affecting the lungs, esophagus, stomach, diaphragm, and chest wall. The clinic provides personalized expert care for non-cancerous esophageal conditions, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hiatal hernias, difficulty swallowing and pouches in the esophagus, called diverticula. It also offers consultation for conditions such as trapped lung, interstitial lung disease, pneumothorax, rib fractures, chest wall deformities and mediastinal cysts. For any suspected or proven cancerous thoracic and upper GI conditions, please direct the referrals to the THP Thoracic Diagnostic Assessment Program (DAP) Fax: 1-877-530-4425, Phone: 1-866-530-4464.

The urogynecology clinics provide assessment, investigation and treatment for people with urinary incontinence, vaginal prolapse, recurrent urinary tract infections, and pelvic floor injury commonly associated with childbirth and aging. We provide urodynamic testing and also counsel patients regarding management options including medical management, pessary care and surgery.

Our urologists specialize in diagnosing, treating and managing conditions related to the urinary system and reproductive health. They may refer you for additional tests or procedures as needed. BCG (Bacillus Calmette Guérin) is a treatment that involves delivering medication into the bladder for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. This treatment is administered at the Credit Valley Hospital surgical clinic.

The vascular clinic provides specialized care for patients with vascular conditions affecting arteries and veins. We treat chronic conditions such as arterial venous (AV) access fistulas and grafts for patients with renal disease requiring dialysis, care for peripheral vascular disease, aneurysmal disease, and personalized wound care and compression therapy for patients with chronic ulcers including pressure, neuropathic, venous, and arterial. We also provide visits after procedure following up angioplasty, bypass surgery, endovascular treatments, amputations, surgical debridement, and aortic aneurysm repair.

Our team of highly skilled nurses is composed of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs). They will escort you into the clinic, receive intake, assist the surgeon as needed, provide health teaching and remove sutures (if applicable).

During your visit, you may be cared for by one of our allied health care professionals that includes an orthopaedic technologist, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

Our unit coordinating assistants (UCAs), also known as our administration team, will assist by checking you in/out, booking future appointments and providing you with your summary after visit summary, if applicable.

Preparing for your Visit

  • Please note: We do not accept patients without a referral.
  • If a referral is made from the community, our Surgical Clinic UCAs will call you to book an appointment. If a referral is made from a Trillium Health Partners Emergency Department or Urgent Care Centre, they will book your appointment and provide you with the information before you leave.
  • Ensure you arrange for childcare as we cannot do a procedure or test if there is no adult to watch an infant or child.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes early to allow time for parking, registration and locating the clinic. Patients who are late may lose their scheduled time slot and need to be rescheduled.
  • Do not plan travel within at least two weeks after your procedure
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing
  • Please be advised of the following:
    • Trillium Health Partners takes pride in maintaining a respectful workplace. We ask that you maintain respectful dialogues with our team during your visit.
    • Trillium Health Partners is a scent-free organization

What to Bring with you / What to Expect

  • Remember to bring the following:
    • Valid health care
    • Pertinent information from your referring physician (documents, x-ray reports, test results)
    • List of your current medications
  • Please note, we only allow one (1) support person with you on the day of your appointment.

How Long does a Surgical Clinic Visit Take?

Our clinics are very busy and therefore your visit can take between one to three hours to complete. Many factors make the timing of your visit unpredictable, including the number of patients we are serving in the clinic, the wait for additional testing, and procedures being more complicated than initially anticipated.

Getting to Surgical Clinics

Credit Valley Hospital

When you arrive at the Credit Valley Hospital, you will need to first register at our patient registration. This is located on the first floor. Please enter the hospital through the ambulatory care entrance near the Carlo Fidani Regional Cancer Centre (off Credit Valley Road).

You will then be directed to ambulatory care surgical clinics reception desk on the third floor. A unit clerk will check you in and direct you to your specific clinic.

After your Visit

When your visit is complete, you will receive your after-visit summary from the nurses. Please refer to your summary for information on MyChart. At this time, if an appointment is required, you will be asked to return to the Surgical Clinic Reception Desk to book this.

Queensway Health Centre

Patients may park in the east and south surface parking lots or in the parking garage at our south/urgent care entrance.

The central registration is closest to the east entrance and surgical clinic is closest to the south entrance, they are both on the main floor. When you arrive at Queensway Health Centre, you will need to first register at central registration.

We provide surgical clinic services in two areas of Queensway: Surgical Clinic A and Surgical Clinic B.

  • You will then be directed to the Surgical Clinic A registration desk.
  • A clerk will check you in and direct you to have a seat in the waiting room.
  • When it is your turn, a nurse will call your name and bring you to Surgical Clinic A or B.

After your Visit

  • A follow-up appointment may or may not be needed.
  • Ensure to check out at the desk inside the clinic when your appointment is done before leaving the clinic. At this time, if an appointment is required, it can be booked. You will also receive your after-visit summary, if applicable. Please refer to your summary for information on MyChart.
