  • Apps Funded by the Government of Ontario to Support Mental Health. The apps below provide free mental health support for Ontario residents dealing with stress, anxiety, depression and more (for people over the age of 16). They provide therapist guided programs based in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and are typically 6 to 12 weeks. The programs are all done digitally.
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program. Your Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP) is a confidential and voluntary support service that provides you with immediate and confidential help for any work, health, or life concern.   • Bounce Back Ontario (https://bouncebackontario.ca/). Free skill-building program designed to help adults and youth 15+ manage low mood, mild to moderate depression and anxiety. Call 1-866-345-0224.
  • Breaking Free Online (https://www.breakingfreeonline.ca/). Offering addiction treatment and healthcare providers across Ontario; free access to the program to alleviate pressure on services and support clients who can no longer access interventions.
  • Canadian Mental Health Association (CAMH). Return To Workplace Psychology Toolkit assists those struggling with anxiety and stress as they return to the physical workplace (https://ontario.cmha.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/CMHA_ReturnToWorkplace-Toolkit_EN-Final.pdf).
  • Daily Stoic (https://www.youtube.com/dailystoic). Offers videos to help manage stress, excessive thought, anger, depression, worry, and other destructive mind states.
  • L’Entite 4- Resources for Francophones (https://entite4.ca/soutien-et-ressources-disponible-en-ligne/). L’Entité 4 has created a list of French-language COVID-19 resources and support programs (ex. Mental health, social isolation, etc.) on their website. (available in French only).
  • WellCan. Free mental health digital resource for all Canadians. Download the app for free.
  • Yoga Can Help Heal COVID-19 Long-Haul Syndrome. Research shows yoga can help heal COVID-19 long-haul syndrome. Yoga teachers and yoga therapists (certified practitioners who use yoga to address specific physical and mental health issues) have been working with these COVID long-haul patients to help them ease stress and pain, maintain mobility, and breathe easier, and now science is starting to back their methods.   • CMA Wellness Connection. CMA Wellness Connection is a virtual platform where physicians and medical learners can access free peer support sessions led by trained facilitators. The Wellness Connection also offers group sessions on topics such as Psychological First Aid, Compassion Rounds, Stress Reduction Practices and Mindful Parenting. 
  • Coping with COVID-19: Support for Frontline Health Care Workers. The Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence at Ontario Health (MHACoE@ontariohealth.ca) has partnered with 5 leading hospitals in Ontario to provide supports to front-line health care workers. Health and community care workers across Ontario are showing incredible strength through the COVID-19 pandemic. But even the strongest among us need help sometimes. For health and community care workers, stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and compassion fatigue are all normal responses in this pandemic. It’s ok to say it: this is really hard. And it’s ok to seek support to help with coping. Health and community care workers from across Ontario can access more information on mental health support via https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-support-people#support-health-care-worker. Five hospitals have partnered with the Ministry of Health and the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence at Ontario Health to provide confidential support, including access to iCBT.   • Canadian Psychological Association. Psychological services to front line health care providers who may be feeling stressed, overwhelmed or distressed by being on the front lines of this health crisis. For a full list of Psychologists offering pro-bono services in Ontario, please click here.
  • Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. CAMH is providing access to mental health and addiction supports for health care workers who might be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These supports will include access to resources, psychotherapy and psychiatric services (covered through OHIP). If you require support, complete a Self-Referral Form.
  • Free Therapy Sessions for Health Care Workers: Ontario COVID-19 Mental Health Network was created to provide support to health care workers during COVID-19. Each Ontario-based mental health professionals provide up to five sessions over the phone for free. Visit: Ontario COVID-19 Mental Health Network.
  • Employee & Family Assistance Program. Confidential voluntary service that provides immediate and confidential help for any work, health or life concern. If you need to talk to someone confidentially about how you are feeling, or access related information, please visit the thpHub.
  • Mental Health Commission of Canada. In response to added pressures on essential workers during COVID-19, the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) has developed a trio of free crisis response training programs designed to help front-line workers deal with the stress of these exceptional circumstances.   • Ontario Health (Central). Ontario Health (Central) has established this web page to promote self-care and the well-being of its community providers’ staff.   • Morneau Shepell. Provides various learning resources.
    • A 25 minute free webinar: Emotional Well-being during COVID-19 (English version and French version).

  • Mindfulness & Meditation Apps. Various meditation applications are offering free access to services.
    • Woebot (useful tool to provide step-by-step guidance using tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness principles)
    • Big White Wall (free online mental health support network for Ontarians 16+. It is safe, anonymous and available 24/7.)

  • National Ballet of Canada. The National Ballet of Canada would like to share their virtual stretches and workout classes for free. These classes are specifically designed for front line workers and emergency responders. To learn more about the Gratitude Classes, click here.
  • Peace on Purpose - Lululemon / United Nations. Peace on Purpose is a partnership between the United Nations Foundation and Lululemon that provides mindfulness tools designed to support people through this difficult time.
  • The Joy4All Project. Youth Leaders have created a hotline to bring joy to those experiencing isolation. When you dial the local and toll-free numbers, you will be able to choose from a number of pre-recorded options so that you can listen to stories, kind messages, jokes, and more!   • What’s Your Grief. What’s Your Grief offers online and in-person continuing education training for grief support professionals. For more information and resources visit their website.
  • Resources for Resilience. Resources for Resilience is a project of the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology's Humanitarian Committee. Visit their website to access self-help techniques that can help you recover more quickly and easily from stressful events.
